CupcakeCampKW: We Came. We Saw. We Gorged.

Yesterday, we were honoured to be a part of Kitchener-Waterloo’s first CupcakeCamp at The Children’s Museum and it was a blast! So nice to see some C3TO alumni (especially Krista from The Grand Bakery whose Caramel Apple cupcake rocked my world) as well as meet some awesome new bakers. Organized differently, this smaller event was perfectly geared toward a smaller audience – the children. And from where I was sitting (yes, it was very good to sit at this one), they were not complaining :)

We were also asked to be cupcake judges. I know, it’s a hard-knock life but someone’s got to do it! The winners will be posted on their website soon. For now, peruse through these pics…

Thank you Suzie and others for spreading the cupcake love! You guys rock :)

Scouring Google

So naturally we did a Google search to see what people thought of the first Cupcake Camp. Some negative, some positive, all welcomed and appreciated! Monica said it best: The post-mortem is just as important as the event itself. Keep the comments/suggestions coming so that the next one will be better!

CupcakeCamp Gets TasteTO’d

The Word is Out!

CupcakeCamp Toronto buzz is going national! National Post that is.

national-post-logo ”The icing-clad treat known as the cupcake is taking centre stage this month as bakers and baked good-lovers (read: everybody) gather to celebrate the morsels of awesomeness. Cupcake Camp, to be held at Toronto’s Labspace Studio the afternoon of Jan. 25, is based on a similar event in San Francisco and gives bakers and general enthusiasts a chance to gather and discuss recipes, icing strategy and general theory. “Lots of people like cupcakes, we like to bake, let’s do this,” event organizer Monica Fitzpatrick told the Post. She spoke to Matthew Coutts…” [read more]
