Michelle Bodner

I’m Michelle Bodner, and I bake cupcakes that are vegan as well as gluten-free — and look and taste so good, you’d never know they’re not the ‘real thing’. Last year my ‘Vanilla Bean with White Chocolate and Macadamia Nuts’ won Best Twist on a Classic at CupcakeCampTO. This year I’m bringing two new flavours I’m super excited about: Key Lime Pie, a rich graham crumb crust underneath key lime cake, topped with tangy key lime frosting; and Bourbon Caramel Pecan, a sweet brown sugar cake with bourbon and toasted pecans topped with caramel frosting and drizzle. And yes, everything is absolutely vegan and gluten-free!

Glady Ledesma, Gladycakes

Gladycakes is a home-based cake business, run by owner, operator and chief cake lady, Glady Ledesma. As a child, Glady often baked in her parent’s kitchen, and dreamed of having her own bakery when she grew up. Of course, as the years passed by, adult responsibilities took over, and the dream was put away for safe keeping. After much thought, and a lot of support from family and friends, Glady officially launched Gladycakes in June 2008, and business has never been better!

Gladycakes is very pleased and excited to be participating in this year’s CupcakeCampTO. She attended last year’s 1st annual CupcakeCamp as a “taster”, and was inspired by all the wonderful bakers that had supplied their tasty treats. It was there where she first conceived her idea for a new cupcake, “The Elvis”, which lead her to offer a new line of Signature cakes and cupcakes. She is presenting “The Elvis” at this year’s CupcakeCampTO. This yummy cupcake pays homage to Elvis’ favourite sandwich-peanut butter and banana. The cupcake delights the senses with a tender banana cake, topped with a smooth peanut butter frosting, toasted, salted peanuts for some crunch, and a crisp banana chip to finish it all off. In addition to “The Elvis”, Gladycakes will also submit another Signature line flavour, “Lemon Heaven”. This charming concoction of luscious lemon cake, filled with a tart lemon curd, then topped with an airy meringue which is then baked, puts a new spin on the tried-and-true lemon meringue pie.
So, come on out to CupcakeCampTO, and try a cupcake, or two, from Gladycakes!

Stephanie Brown, Cupcakes and Sundry

Cupcakes and Sundry is a custom cupcakery located in the tiny village of Port Credit, located in the City of Mississauga just minutes outside Toronto, Ontario.
In March 2008, I started making cupcakes as a hobby in my little apartment kitchen. Every week I’d pump out a different flavour for my friends and colleagues to try and to judge. Everyone has their personal favourite: mine strawberry angel food cake and a new flavour the peanut butter colossal.
At Cupcakes and Sundry we like to swirl and sprinkle, dip and glaze, fill and layer, pipe and top or just make cupcakes simple and sweet. Birthday, holiday or any occasion cupcakes are a perfect dessert after any meal. For cupcake camp I’ll be making (my prize-winning from Cupcake Hero) Blood Orange and Olive Oil cupcakes and Chocolate Cookie Dough cupcakes.
