Yvonne Gettins, Ms. Adventures in Baking

Ever since being taught how to make pastizzi by her great grandmother as a child, Yvonne has loved to bake. It was only in recent years since she began studying part time at George Brown College that it turned from a hobby to an obsession. Yvonne loves to bake so much, that in March 2010, she baked one cookie recipe every day to raise money for the Daily Bread Food Bank!

Every month or so, Yvonne issues herself a challenge to further her baking skills, and blogs these adventures. Of course, being an amateur means that there are lots of misadventures, and Yvonne welcomes the fallen cakes, soggy muffins, and hard-as-rock cookies as opportunities to learn to be a better baker.

Yvonne will be bringing Lemon Luxury cupcakes to this year’s CupCake Camp, an amazing fusion of white chocolate and lemon that is sure to convert you lemon-haters in to lemon-lovers!

Tamarah Smith

I’ve been baking since I was a little girl. I used to bake chocolate chip cookies with my mom, and the first thing I ever baked alone was oatmeal cookies. I love baking everything and will use any excuse to bake! I’m going to George Brown in September for Baking and Pastry Arts and then I want to take the Master Cake Decorating course at McCall’s. The cupcakes I’m making for CupcakeCampTO will be chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes, which are a brown sugar cupcake with cookie dough in the center, streusel cupcakes, lavender iced brownie cupcakes, and cookies and cream cupcakes, which are a vanilla cupcake with crushed Oreos.

I will be baking something that I have been dying to try (and fiddle with!) It will be a strawberry daiquiri cupcake. A moist vanilla bean cupcake filled with a freshly made strawberry daiquiri filling (yes it will contain rum) and topped with a fluffy strawberry buttercream.

Leanne Elnicki, The Masterbaker

Leanne Davis Elnicki calls herself the Masterbaker , and why? Well, because cake IS pleasure!

She describes herself as equal parts pastry chef, dog-mother, best auntie ever, stand-up comic, scooter mama and journalist.

People attending CupcakeCampTO Part Deux can expect a little piece of rock’n'roll heaven from Leanne’s cuppies — a bit of a homage perhaps to the 10 years she spent as a radio DJ.
But don’t get “All Shook Up”… there should be enough to go ’round for everyone.

Logan Peever, Debakery.com

Logan started off early helping out in his grandmothers kitchen making cookies and date squares for church events, so it was only natural that once he started in professional kitchens that he made his way to the pastry line. Now Logan has started Debakery, an excessive indulgence in baked goods. Providing people with products to indulge anytime and anywhere, so customers can create lasting and meaningful memories with friends and families is the goal. Debakery encourages people to indulge, excessively in well made products produced with local, and seasonal (with in reason) ingredients. Check it out on line at Debakery.com, and don’t forget sharing is sexy, so tell a friend.
Debakery will be featuring a Lemon Red Rhubarb Velvet cake, a lemony icing on top of a moist red cake filled with Ontario Rhubarb preserves!
